Who we are…

Girls Do Gigs is a non-male collective, celebrating and promoting under-represented creatives within the photography and journalism industry.

The founders, Emie Grimwood and Lucy Cheyne, had spent countless events being the only woman in the photo pit, or facing gender discrimination at music events. As well as this, they found multiple imbalances in paid roles between male and non-male creatives.

So, they did something about it. Girls Do Gigs was born.

Girls Do Gigs has over 30 non-male creatives across the UK. With a photographer or writer in every major city, we represent those who have felt the industry to be challenging.

Our owners, Emie and Lucy had access to the industry and used their knowledge of it to assist others and get other creatives opportunities. Due to our interesting, and original publication structure, we are able to cover a plethora of events in most areas of the UK.
