Girls Do Gigs was born out of a shared frustration, and an even deeper passion to see real change in the photography and journalism industries.
Founded by two working photographers, our publication was created to uplift and amplify the voices of women and non-binary creatives, especially in spaces where we are often underrepresented.
Coming from the music industry, we saw a familiar pattern: despite women and non-binary people dominating academic spaces and creative circles, we were still missing from the rooms where the real opportunities happened: the paid gigs, the funded experiences and the backstage passes. So, we decided to do something about it. We platform underrepresented talent, challenge industry norms, and create a space where our community can thrive.
We believe in access, opportunity and solidarity. Representation should not be a goal in the music industry, it must become the a reality. We are working to ensure there is equality in your teams. The presence of underrepresented and marginalised creatives will lead only to success. We celebrate our differences, amplify our stories, and demand better, together.
This industry doesn’t move without us and we’re here to make that impossible to ignore.
We are Girls Do Gigs and we’re just getting started.
